Sacrificial Service-July Scripture Writing Plan

The summer months always inspire me to think about men and women who serve to defend our country, protect our cities and towns, and respond when there is a crisis.
Why do I think about this more in the summer?
Well, we have the Memorial Day and Independence Day celebrations. These holidays remind us of the sacrifice others have made so we may live in freedom. I think of the words of John 15:13 when I remember those who’ve sacrificed everything:
Greater love has no one than this; to lay down one’s life for one’s friends.
Does that mean God wants us all to sacrifice our lives for others?
I don’t think He calls all of us to give up our physical lives for others. However, there are scriptures in God’s Word that teach us how to serve others. And that service will often come with some sacrifice, whether it’s our preferences, time, or money.
In Philippians 2:3-4, we are commanded to:
Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves, not looking to your own interests but each of you to the interests of the others.
So how does this look in our everyday, ordinary life?
*Sacrificial service shows up when we take time out of our schedules to help a friend. Or, sometimes, we have the opportunity to help a stranger.
*Sacrificial service displays itself when we choose to spend money to further a righteous cause instead of spending it on something we want or possibly even need.
*Sacrificial service occurs when we say yes to serving in a way that is outside our comfort zone.
All of the verses will lead you to a deeper understanding of service and can prompt you to serve others well.

My long-time girlfriend, Marilyn Billmeyer told me about this! I have been seeing a Christian counselor. Marilyn said she had been doing this for many years. I wished I had known about her secret! I have been going thru a lot of problems with the Church I left in 2017. The Pastor there will not leave me alone! My husband still attends the Church because he Enjoys teaching the kids! My small Church is still growing. We have a lot of Seniors! I REALLY ENJOY attending a smaller Church!! I Enjoy the people there also!! Marilyn & I have been friends for many, many years. I wished she lived a little bit closer. She lives not too far from where my husband, Ron works (in South Charlotte). Both Ron & I have been married before. Ron & I just celebrated 33 years of marriage! We don’t have any kids between us. We both have kids from our first marriage. My son & his family reside in Japan. I miss them very much! Ron’s family has become my family. He had 3 kids from his 1st marriage. He is also the oldest of 4 brothers. Two of his brothers have never married. The youngest brother takes very good care of their Wonderful Mother! I have a younger brother who has a very mean wife! They stole my inheritance from my father. I have no contact with them! My husband & I take very Good Care of Each Other!!! Several years ago my husband & I found out we were both born in the same hospital in Charlotte, NC & we were born 6 days apart.
