Delighting in Abundant Peace

January 27

If you’ve followed my blog over the years, you will have noticed as it has evolved I have added an element of focusing on peace. For example, a couple of years ago I changed my tag line to pursuing peace, not perfection.

As I’ve redefined (once again!) what I want to write about I’ve changed the tag line to real purpose. real plans. real peace. My goal is to help women discover their purpose, develop a plan, and delight in peace. (By the way, you’ll be seeing this a lot in the coming weeks and months.)

You see, I think we can begin to experience peace in our lives when we know our God given purpose and are able to live it out. I don’t know about you, but I could use some peace in the midst of a crazy, busy, and hectic life.

The other night as I was writing out God’s Word, the guide I use directed me to Psalm 37. Verse 11 caught my attention.

But the meek shall inherit the land and delight themselves in abundant peace.

Wow! It says the meek will delight themselves not only in peace but abundant peace. What would that look like?

I’ll be the first to admit I am not a Bible scholar. So I did a little reading of some commentaries to find out what it meant for the meek to delight themselves in abundant peace.

I learned that even though we may not have great wealth, we can have something which is better:

  • Inward peace and peace of mind
  • Peace with God
  • Peace in God
  • Peace in the kingdom of Christ
  • Peace that the world cannot give

This peace is greater than anything you or I can do for ourselves. It is the direct result of a relationship with Jesus Christ.

We may long for our circumstances to be peaceful, but what we really need is a relationship with Jesus. When we have accepted Him as our Lord and Savior, He will provide the peace we crave.

Does that mean life will be smooth sailing? NO! We are not guaranteed a perfect life free from trouble. It means we will know Who holds everything together and can trust that He knows best.

Do you know Jesus? If not, would you like to know Him? Please email me at jennifer [at] jenniferbooth [dot] com if you want to know more.
