An Attitude Adjustment
Doing the same tasks week in and week out can get old. Do you know what I mean? The laundry, dirty dishes, and toilets that need to be cleaned on a regular basis can make my life feel so mundane and boring. Very often I find myself in need of an attitude check.
I’ve also realized that my kids are falling into this same habit when it comes to the mundane tasks they have to complete. Things like homework, studying, and chores around the house are often performed with a cranky attitude and disposition.
So, I have decided we could all use an attitude adjustment.
A Bible verse I turn to when I’m feeling cranky about the work I need to do is Colossians 3:23. I love how the New Living Translation says it.
Work willingly at whatever you do, as though you were working for the Lord rather than for people.
Work willingly for the Lord.
This is what I want to teach my kids. Right now they think they need to make good grades because it will please Steven and me or their teachers. But, in reality, using the gift of a sharp mind that God has given them actually pleases Him.
Putting our work in perspective and dedicating it to God can make a huge difference in our attitude. Our work can begin to have purpose and meaning. Even cleaning toilets! 🙂
I created a printable piece to hang up on our family command center to remind us to watch our attitude. Do you like it? I’ve created one for you, too!

What do you do when you need an attitude adjustment?
Hi Jennifer, this Bible Verse has opened up my eyes toward cleaning. Instead of complainting do it for God.
Thank you for this printable verse.
I’m glad you found this! Enjoy!
While I love the verse I’m afraid to print it. So much black ink!
Hey, Janice! I’m glad you like the printable. I created this several years ago, so I’m sure it’s in need of an update to make it less costly to print. I’ll see what I can do.
