The Jesse Tree

This week I want to share another Christmas tradition that you can use with your family. The Jesse Tree is a great way to help your family focus on the true meaning of Christmas. By telling the story of Creation through Jesus’ birth, you can share God’s amazing plan for the redemption of a fallen world with your family. The idea of the Jesse Tree comes from Isaiah 11:1 which says, “But a shoot shall sprout from the stump of Jesse, and from his roots a bud shall blossom.”

The Jesse Tree is created by using a small Christmas tree or banner. Each day there will be an ornament that will correspond with that day’s Scripture reading. To create your own Jesse Tree and download daily Scripture readings, click here.

The Jesse Tree readings begin on December 1. As with the Advent wreath, there are many different types of readings out there.

I’d love for you to comment if you’ve ever used the Jesse Tree. Share your experience and what the Jesse Tree means to you.
