Bedroom Dresser Makeover

bedroom dresser makeover

Three years ago when we moved to our current home, I began crafting a plan to furnish and decorate each room. Our new home offered many new design opportunities, so I was excited to get started.

One room we have in our home that we didn’t have in our other home is a guest room. It is a nice sized room that has space for a lot of furniture. In fact, I had one long wall that just called out for a substantial piece of furniture.

Because I needed to furnish several rooms in our home, I had to prioritize what furniture to get first. So, since our guest room is not used as often as other spaces in our home, I put off finishing that room until I got the rest of the house done.

In the meantime, we got new furniture for our master bedroom. That meant we had to decide what to do with the old furniture. I had a friend purchase my bed and TV armoire, but that left our dresser.

My addiction to Pinterest led me to consider painting the dresser to go in our guest room. I already had paint from another project, so all I had to do was paint it and get some new hardware.

Here is what it looked like before I painted it:

My hubby helped out by sanding it down for me. Then my daughter and I painted it. Hubby also helped put the finishing touches on the painting. And, he was gracious enough to install the hardware for me even though it meant drilling new holes. Thanks, honey!

Here is the finished product:

I used Martha Stewart hardware from Home Depot. As I mentioned earlier, the paint is from a previous project.

I am so happy to have it done! I still have a few things to do in the room, but having this dresser in there makes the room feel more complete.

  1. I love it! This turned out beautiful! Is this the piece that you were thinking about painting the chevron on top of? I love this just like it is!

    1. Yes! The chevron did not work out for me. I’m not sure if I had the wrong kind of paint, but it didn’t look good. Once I get the mirror hung over it, I have an orange vase that I’m going to set on top.
