What I Did On My Blogging Break
I can’t believe it has been four months since I took time off from blogging. I have to say that there were days I truly missed interacting with you readers. However, there were many days I was glad I did not have the pressures and responsibilities of updating my blog.
I discovered that my creativity is unleashed when I have little to be stressed about. So, that means I have a TON of great new ideas to share with you in the coming weeks and months.
Our family did not feel we had a true summer break. My son went with the High School Band at his school to march in the Independence Day Parade in Washington, D.C. over the July 4th week. That meant he had practice twice a week in June. They were back for about 3 1/2 weeks and then started band camp. School started the following week.
We did enjoy the days we had nothing planned, though. My daughter and I took trips to the community pool several times, and I caught up on some books I had been wanting to read.
We took a family vacation to Anna Maria Island in July. We were so blessed to be able to stay in my uncle’s condo which is right on the beach. Aren’t these views fabulous?
This summer also marked a few new ventures for me personally and my family as a whole.
First, we decided to put up our home for sale. We found another home we really liked, but we could not make an offer on it until we sold our home. Unfortunately, though, that home has already sold while ours has not.
At this point we are considering building but do not have firm plans yet. Once we do, I’m going to start a series on how to be organized when building a home. I can’t wait to share what I learn through the process!
Second, I signed up to be a consultant for Mary & Martha, a home party business that specializes in items to help you entertain more easily. I’ll share a lot more about this in the next couple of weeks.
Finally, I signed up to do something I’ve wanted to do for many years. I am going to participate in the Disney Princess Half Marathon in February of next year! When I signed up, I had only completed two 5k events. Now I have run in two more 5k events and have been able to go longer distances.
I have to clarify that I walk more than I run right now. But I will get there!
To help me prepare for the Disney race, I signed up for a local half marathon that will take place at the end of October. I have not been able to keep up the training schedule like I want to, so I’ll most likely walk that half marathon. Once I get the distance under my belt, then I can train to run the Disney race.
I wanted to get the blog going again on September 1, but I had the chance to go on a mission trip to Seattle that week. I have a lot to share from the trip that actually relates to organizing and time management!
I’m so excited to be back! I’m looking forward to connecting with you more through the blog as well as on Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, and YouTube. Come join me if you haven’t already!
