Welcome to A More Organized Life
I am so excited to welcome you to my newly re-designed blog. I can’t believe this day is finally here! The re-design of my blog and the change of focus have been in the works for many months.
With the help of my blog coach, Suzie Eller, I have finally been able to turn this blog into what I have dreamed it could be. Also, Erin Ulrich with Design by Insight has taken my vision for what this blog could look like and turned it into reality. I know that without the help of these two women, I would never have been able to do this on my own.
You will see I have a new tagline, “Pursuing Peace, Not Perfection.” When I began thinking about what I wanted to accomplish with this blog, I realized that I have been on a journey to find peace in my life through order and organization. However, my perfectionist tendencies have held me back in obtaining the peace I so desperately crave.
Understanding that about myself opened my eyes to see how often we set our sights too high by comparing ourselves with others. We seek that elusive perfection we see in others. The reality, though, is what we perceive as perfection in others is just a myth. There is not one person on this planet who has it all together. Not even Martha Stewart!
I have learned that true peace comes from not within ourselves but with a relationship with Jesus Christ. I can only do so much in my own power, but with Jesus, I can find the peace I desire.
A verse that I have found helpful in this process is from Psalm 34:14, “…seek peace and pursue it.” We are commanded to pursue peace. One thing that stood out to me while I was reading this verse is that it doesn’t mention we are to pursue perfection.
I chose the owl icon to represent the wisdom it takes in pursuing peace. One of my favorite verses related to wisdom is Proverbs 14:1, “The wise woman builds her house, but with her own hands the foolish one tears hers down.”
We have a choice on this road to a more organized life. We can waste our time pursuing perfection while becoming frustrated with our efforts. Or, we can spend our time pursuing peace and celebrating the small victories along the way.
