124: Using a Color-Coding System to Enhance Bible Study

I love a good color-coding system for just about anything I do. I use one in my planner when I’m doing a brain dump and when I’m trying to put like thoughts together when writing.
It makes sense, then, that I have a color-coding system for Bible study.
This month I’m sharing different tools and techniques you can use to make your quiet time more meaningful. So far, we’ve talked about scripture writing and using a quiet time journal sheet to help you stay focused. If you haven’t listened to these episodes yet, go back to episodes 122 and 123 to learn more.
I talked a bit about color coding in the episode on Scripture Writing, but today I want us to dive deeper into the world of color coding. However, you may be wondering what exactly a Bible color-coding or marking system is.
Well, simply put, it’s a system that helps the reader identify the key concepts of a passage, the characteristics and qualities of God and Jesus, and the way we should live as Christians. This process involves reading through a passage of Scripture several times as you mark each of the different concepts. Doing this will result in a deeper and more meaningful understanding of what you read.
