A Closer Look Inside My Planner-Reference Section

A Closer Look Inside My Planner

This is the fourth part of the A Closer Look Inside My Planner Series. Today I will be sharing the Reference Section.

Reference Section

The Reference Section does for me exactly what the name implies. I use this section to keep things I need to reference on a regular basis. While the Home Section keeps up with things related to running my home, I don’t always need to reference it.

The Reference Section helps me as I work on my computer, keep track of my spending, plan meals, and keep up with personal information.

Reference tabs

Let me share with you what goes behind each tab:

1. Computer

I have pages that record all of my online and computer software information. I keep my user names along with hints as to what my passwords are for each account. I realize this may not be the most secure way of keeping my information, but it’s what works best for me right now.

When I am at the computer trying to log on to an account I’ve not been on in a while, it is so nice to turn to this section of my planner to help me remember my info.

2. Finance

I keep track of all my spending here. I do it very simply.

On each page I just write the date, payee, and amount across on one line. I try to keep one month’s worth of spending on one sheet of paper front and back. That doesn’t always happen, but I do try.

Then at various points during the month and at the end of the month, I can add up to see how much I’ve spent. Writing down my expenses is always eye opening. It helps me to be more conscious of what I’m spending.

3. Meal Planning

This section is where I can plan out meals for the week. I have a few pages dedicated to lists of possible meals. When I’m trying to figure out what to feed my family for the week, I can go here to get ideas and make a plan.

4. Personal

I keep in this section things that are, well, personal. 🙂

Seriously, though, right now I don’t have a ton of info in this section. Currently I have a page where I list the make up I wear, how much it cost, and when I bought it last.

I plan to add things such as books I want to read, places to visit, and things I want to try.
