My 2014 Word of the Year

2014 Word of the Year

I’m a little late writing about the word I have chosen that reflects my goals and priorities for 2014. In past years I have chosen the words purge, discipline, prepare, and focus. These words have all served their purpose in helping me achieve my goals for those years.

This year, however, I’ve really struggled with coming up with a word that I think fits where I am in life and will propel me to the next level in achieving my goals. As I’ve focused on my blog subtitle (Pursuing Peace, Not Perfection) this past year, I’ve realized that the one thing holding me back from doing what I should be doing and what I want to be doing is lack of follow through.

I know that it’s not one word, but I’m choosing follow through as my “word” for the year. I can make all the plans in the world and even verbally commit to them, but if I don’t follow through, those plans will never come to fruition.

Dictionary.com  defines follow through like this:

to continue an effort, plan, proposal, policy, etc., to its completion.

I love this! It totally describes what I want to do this year. Whether I’m focusing on household organization projects, losing weight, reading through the Bible, scrapbooking, blogging, or being a good wife and mother, I want to make it a priority to see everything I commit to through to completion.

We’ll see how this goes. I’m making myself a note to write a follow-up post near the end of the year so I can share how well I embraced “follow through” in my life.

Do you have a word for the year? If so, comment below and share? If not, why?
